What Is a Plan of Action (POA)?

A POA is the formal written response Amazon requires when your selling account or listing is deactivated. It must show that you understand the violation, have fixed it, and have put safeguards in place so it will not recur. A persuasive POA leads to reinstatement of your selling privileges, funds, and inventory.

Amazon’s 3-Point Framework

Every POA—and Amazon’s online appeal questionnaire—revolves around three questions:

1. Root Cause --What caused the policy or performance issue?
2. Corrective Actions --What actions have you taken to fix all existing impact?
3. Preventive Measures --What long-term systems will stop the issue from happening again?

Keep each answer short, factual, and free of emotion or blame.

What’s New for 2024-2025

• Account Health Assurance (AHA): To enroll, sellers must maintain an Account Health Rating (AHR) of 250 points or higher for six consecutive months.
• 48-Hour POA Deadlines: Amazon now gives only 48 hours to submit a POA after certain metric failures or compliance flags.
• Real-time AHR Dashboard: Scores run 0-1,000; anything below 100 risks immediate suspension.
• Online Appeal Questionnaire: POAs are pasted directly into Seller Central’s form instead of emailed attachments.

What Should a POA Look Like?

Amazon investigators scan hundreds of appeals daily. Use this basic structure:

• Header --seller name, merchant token & case ID
• One-sentence apology
• Root Cause (3-5 concise bullets)
• Corrective Actions (3-7 bullets, tied to each root cause)
• Preventive Measures (3-7 bullets, documented with SOP links or screenshots)
• Closing statement with 24/7 contact number

Critical Components of an Effective Appeal Letter

Winning POAs share five traits: specificity, evidence, data, proactivity, and brevity. Avoid generic templates—Amazon rejects them quickly.

How to Research & Gather Evidence

Before drafting, pull data from your Account Health Dashboard, buyer-seller messages, and supply-chain documents (invoices, QC reports). Attach supporting PDFs separately so your POA itself stays concise.
