Amazon Sellers Alarmed by VTR Suspension Warnings Despite Amazon Labels
Published: July 10, 2025 | By AMZ Sellers Attorney®

Sellers across the Amazon ecosystem were caught off guard this week after several reports surfaced on Reddit’s r/AmazonSeller and Seller Central forums about sudden Valid Tracking Rate (VTR) suspension warnings—even when using Amazon’s own Buy Shipping labels.
One seller posted: "This morning I received a warning I was at risk of suspension because my VTR had dropped below 95%… USPS says they’re still waiting for the package since June 1, 2025."
Other sellers chimed in confirming similar issues, suggesting that a scan delay on the USPS side, despite using Amazon-printed labels, may be triggering these violations in error.
Why Is This Happening?
The problem appears tied to carrier scan delays—especially with USPS. Amazon’s system tracks whether a package has been scanned within the expected time window after label purchase. If USPS doesn't confirm pickup promptly, Amazon may count the tracking as invalid—even if it was shipped correctly.
This technicality puts sellers at serious risk of VTR-based suspensions, and some are seeing a Valid Tracking Rate fall below the required 95% threshold despite strict compliance with Buy Shipping policies.
What Sellers Can Do Right Now
- Double-check your tracking upload time and scan time in your shipping dashboard.
- Cross-reference tracking with USPS tools to confirm movement.
- File a manual proof of delivery or carrier support ticket with Amazon if scans appear delayed.
- Maintain shipping documentation to defend against automated policy strikes.
According to experts, keeping consistent records and being proactive with Amazon's support team is the best approach to prevent wrongful VTR dings.
Official Amazon Response & Policy Reminder
Amazon has not officially commented on the USPS scan delay issue yet, but sellers are encouraged to review the updated 2025 VTR requirements and ensure timely tracking submissions.
As a reminder, Amazon expects U.S. sellers to maintain at least a 95% Valid Tracking Rate on Merchant Fulfilled orders within the trailing 30-day period. Non-compliance may result in account deactivation or loss of seller privileges.
