Amazon has recently updated its coupon policies, allowing sellers to offer percentage off coupons that customers can apply to up to five items in a single order. Previously, customers could use only one coupon per order, leading to multiple purchases as customers tried to maximize their discounts on each item. This new policy not only simplifies the shopping experience but also reduces order processing and delivery costs for sellers.
How to Set Up Percentage Off Coupons for Multiple Items
When creating a percentage off coupon in Seller Central, you now have the flexibility to control how many items each customer can apply it to. To enable this feature:
- In the coupon setup, select No for Limit redemption to one per customer.
- This allows the coupon to apply to up to five items per order.
- If you select Yes, the coupon will apply to only one item in each order, as was previously the case.
Examples of How the Updated Coupon Policy Works
Here are a few scenarios to clarify the impact of the updated policy:
- Example 1: A customer clips a 10% off coupon with a purchase price of $50 and buys three of your items in one order. The coupon applies to all three items, providing a total discount of $15 on the purchase ($5 off each item).
- Example 2: A customer clips a 10% off coupon with a purchase price of $50 and adds eight items to a single order. In this case, the coupon applies to the first five items, giving a total discount of $25. The remaining three items are not eligible for the discount in this order.
Clarification: Money Off Coupons
It’s important to note that this new rule applies exclusively to percentage off coupons. Money off coupons remain limited to one per order, even if Limit redemption to one per customer is set to No. If a customer wants to use a money off coupon multiple times, they will still need to make separate purchases.
Benefits of the Updated Coupon Policy
This new policy brings several benefits to both sellers and buyers:
- Lower Order Processing Costs: Sellers may see reduced order processing and shipping costs since customers are more likely to buy multiple items in a single order.
- Increased Customer Satisfaction: By allowing discounts on multiple items, customers enjoy a more streamlined shopping experience and greater savings in one transaction.
- Flexible Coupon Management: Sellers have more control over how their discounts are applied, enabling them to set up promotions that can attract higher-value purchases.
